Counseling Basics for Legal Career Professionals NALP, 2004 Legal employment and law school career services professionals are frequently called upon to provide some form of counseling to their constituents. Because many who provide such counseling services are not counselors by training, the NALP Student and Associate Counseling Committee developed this pamphlet to explain basic counseling tasks. Particular emphasis is placed on explaining the differences between “advising” and “counseling.” Tips for developing counseling skills are offered, as well as pointers on knowing when to refer. |
