How to Join

NALP's members are institutions that meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Employers: Any bar association, non-profit public interest organization, or government agency and any other employer whose active engagement in the recruitment of lawyers and law students is primarily for purposes of employment within its individual organization. (For example, legal search firms and consultants are not eligible for NALP membership.)
  • Law Schools: Any law school accredited by the American Bar Association; or any law school in a foreign country whose admission to membership is approved by the Board of Directors.

Members receive as part of their membership benefits a wide variety of resources that will enhance their efficiency and effectiveness:

  • The Bulletin, NALP's monthly newsletter, provides information on current recruitment and career services issues and is an excellent means of sharing information with hiring partners and deans.
  • NALPnow!, a biweekly e-mail newsletter providing important information and timely updates.
  • The NALP Directory of Legal Employers — an indispensable recruitment tool for employers and an invaluable reference for all members — features information on the hiring criteria and practice areas of more than 1,500 employers nationwide.
  • The NALP Member Handbook & Membership Directory features a directory of all members, information on NALP governance, and lists of career fairs and law-related organizations.
  • Eligibility to join NALP's Sections, Work Groups, Advisory Groups, and Committees, as well as the related e-mail discussion lists.
  • Special reports that offer important benchmark information on salaries, benefits, and duties of professionals in the legal career planning field.
  • Reduced rates at the NALP Annual Education Conference and special discounts on a wide range of additional resources.
