Subject: [nalp-judclerk] Question on
exporting judges from OSCAR
A few of the working group members took a couple minutes
after today's conference call to explore ways to export a selected list of
judges from OSCAR. The issue raised was that applicants no longer seemed to
have the ability to save and export "subsets" of judges in OSCAR (because the
Batch Option for Save as Excel only showed "all listed judges").
PUBLIC SITE: The only export is the entire list of
judges (no address information). Applicants could certainly start with that
list and edit it in Excel, but that is admittedly a big
list.
SECURE SITE: Applicants who have logged in can also export
the entire list (no address information) using Batch Options. In addition,
however, they can use the Basic Search or Detailed Search parameters to create a
shorter list. They can then select those judges and save them in one or more
Folders. Under the Folders tab, they can select the subset of judges and export
only that smaller list.
EXAMPLE: To isolate judges currently accepting applications
online, we used the Basic Search at the top of the judges list: Clerkship
Position Status = Available and Application Method = Online. That search gave
244 results. Clicking on the + sign at the top of the left column checked off
all 244 on the list. Going to the Batch Options dropdown, we chose [copy to a
new folder], labeled the folder "online judges" and clicked on "add clerkship."
Going then to the Folders tab, we chose the Online folder and displayed our 244
judges. Again, clicking on the + sign checked off everybody. We went to the
Batch Options dropdown, chose Save as Excel/All listed judges, and saved the
file to the desktop. Opening the Exel spreadsheet revealed a list of 244
judges.
Good to talk with everyone-
