NALP is currently conducting the Survey of Legal Employers on 2022 Recruiting. The results of the survey will be published in NALP's Perspectives on 2022 Law Student Recruiting in early 2023. Your participation will help to ensure a comprehensive report with important benchmarking information on recruiting and summer program outcomes. NALP is not conducting a survey of law schools related to recruiting this year. More information is available below.
Survey of Legal Employers on 2022 Recruiting
The Survey of Legal Employers on 2022 Recruiting is now open through Thursday, November 10. This survey is intended to be completed by any U.S. offices that hosted a summer program in 2022 and/or recruited 2Ls for a 2023 summer associate position or 3Ls for associate positions during summer/fall 2022. A PDF version of the survey is available here to assist in compiling your data; however, all survey information must be submitted via this online survey. Data on lateral hiring will be collected in a separate survey in early 2023.
In prior years, NALP has conducted a U.S. law school survey about fall recruiting. To minimize duplicative data collection between legal employers and law schools, NALP is not administering a law school survey this year. Instead, we encourage U.S. law schools to ensure that their information within the NALP Directory of Law Schools (NDLS) is up to date. If you do not know your NDLS school code, please contact [email protected] to request it.
2023 NALP Legal Recruiting Summit
The 2023 NALP Legal Recruiting Summit is back in person and more important than ever! The Summit will be held on Tuesday, January 24 in New York City. This event is an opportunity for legal recruiting and career services professionals to come together for a comprehensive look at the current state of entry-level law firm recruiting. This high-level conference tailored specifically to the legal recruiting community is a members-only event with limited space. The Summit will focus on trends in the legal market, statistics from the 2022 recruiting season, and more. Summit registration is now open.
More information on attendee requirements is available below.
U.S. Legal Employers: If someone from your office plans to register for the Recruiting Summit, completion of the Survey of Legal Employers on 2022 Recruiting is required for attendance.
U.S. Law Schools: In lieu of completion of a law school survey this year, Recruiting Summit attendees must ensure that their 2021-22 NALP Directory of Law Schools listing is up to date and commit to listing in the 2022-23 NDLS when the directory opens for data collection in February 2023. The directory includes important information on OCI dates, demographics, and school contact information that employers use to plan for on-campus interviews.
