2020 Diversity & Inclusion Summit RFP

2020 Diversity & Inclusion Summit
October 7, 2020
Washington, DC

Proposals due January 17, 2020

The NALP Diversity and Inclusion Summit has delivered exceptional education, unique learning, and quality networking opportunities for many years. As we plan for the 2020 Summit, we aim to raise the bar again. Summit attendees are looking for new and big ideas, effective inclusion practices at legal employers and law schools, and how to be on the cutting edge of diversity and inclusion. Professionals from legal employers and law schools come to the Diversity and Inclusion Summit seeking new insights and models, successful programs, and to move beyond the basics of diversity and inclusion.

NALP is seeking exciting and innovative programs from legal employers, law schools, consultants, or others who focus on diversity and inclusion issues and programs. Help us provide new ways of learning that allow attendees to connect with one another, gain new insights, and move their ideas into action at their organization. Both presentation content and speaking expertise will be considered in the selection process, with priority given to practice real-world diversity and inclusion initiatives, new ideas, tools, techniques, technologies, and processes that address diversity and inclusion in the legal industry.

Proposal Selection Criteria

Each proposal will be carefully reviewed by the Diversity and Inclusion Summit Planning Committee. The committee will review proposals based on:

  • Experience and expertise of presenters/speakers
  • Definition and focus of the topic
  • Practical application of material
  • Timeliness and importance of topic
  • Overall program quality

The proposal form will ask you for a program description, learning objectives, and instructional methods. In providing this information, please provide enough detail so the planning committee can understand how the session will be structured and what key issues will be covered.

Please note:

  • Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
  • Presentations cannot be sales pitches.

Requirements for Speakers

  • Commit to the presentation of a program at designated times during the conference, October 7, 2020 in Washington, DC.
  • Presenters must provide handout materials. The materials must be submitted in electronic form by September 1, 2020.

Travel Support

Limited travel funds are available for non-member speakers. The proposal form asks you to indicate the number of speakers who will request travel support funds. For planning purposes, this number cannot increase after program acceptance. Please note that if this field is left blank, we will assume that there are zero requests for travel support and will plan and budget accordingly.

Attendees at the Diversity and Inclusion Summit

  • Attendees are responsible for diversity and inclusion programming and initiatives at law firms and law schools.
  • Attendees may also have responsibilities in legal recruiting, lawyer professional development, or other areas of law firm administration.
