A partnership between Street Law and NALP, this program creates opportunities for law firms to teach and inspire high school students who are often underrepresented in the legal field. The goal is to increase students’ knowledge and interest in the law and legal careers through interactive teaching activities and exposure to career paths in the legal sector.
About the Program
In 2008 NALP and Street Law, Inc. partnered to create the NALP/Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline Program. This program is designed to engage diverse groups of high school students with the law and the legal profession.
Street Law connects participating law firms with local high schools and trains and equips them to provide an educational and inspirational experience for the students. Volunteers from the firm use Street Law materials to teach students about substantive areas of the law and then host a one-day conference at the firm. Law firm participants are given the opportunity to work and connect with young people in their community, and high school students learn about the law and new career paths. The goal is to encourage talented and diverse students to consider legal careers and offer support in that pursuit.
