CSO Employer Outreach Section The CSO Employer Outreach Section explores goals and best practices (including technology, long distance vs. local employer relations and visibility issues) of law school employer outreach. The group also examines the various duties of those engaged in employer outreach work. Finally, the group seeks to increase understanding on the part of legal employers as to the role of employer relations staff in the law schools and to encourage a dialogue that promotes a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship. Annual Conference/ Bulletin Article Planning: This Work Group will brainstorm with Section members to develop ideas and identify speakers for the 2012 Annual Conference and topics for Bulletin articles. The group will assist members through the completion of the RFP processes for both. Vice Chairs: Jennifer Horton, Stetson University College of Law (Annual Conference RFPs); Brenda Louard, University of Miami School of Law (Annual Conference RFPs); Vicki Huebner, Santa Clara University School of Law (Annual Conference RFPs); and Dalel Raide, St. Thomas School of Law (Bulletin Article RFPs). Best Practices Guide: This Work Group will continue developing a Best Practices Guide to assist CSO professionals navigate all aspects of employer outreach. Vice Chairs: Vicki Ryan, Ave Maria School of Law and Chris Smith, Elon University School of Law. (This group has now completed a CSO Employer Outreach Best Practices Guide.) Track Programming: This Work Group will collaborate with the Public Service Section and the Law Student Professional Development Section to identify and compile resources that are designed to help new members interested in nontraditional legal career advising. Resources should include “best of” sessions from the 2010/2011 NALP educational programming (Annual Conference, Diversity Summit, the Lawyer Professional Development Program, Newer Professional Forum, Professional Development Institute, and PSLawNet Mini Conference), as well as NALP and NALP Foundation webinars, where applicable.
